Five of the Republican presidential candidates, asked to sign a pro-life pledge, signed it. Mitt Romney, and the PC Republican's darling, Herman Cain, declined.
Go over to Free Republic or any such Republican faithful forum, and watch the Republican true believers make every excuse for Cain's refusal, while condemning Mitt for his declining to sign. Now what, do you suppose, explains that inconsistency?
It's instructive to see how these Republicans twist themselves into pretzels to rationalize what Cain does, while trashing Romney for doing the same. Like cult members, their brain short-circuits when presented with anything that puts their idol in a bad light, and then the brain goes into its rationalizing mode.
